Wayne Wagner Sr.

Wayne Rogers Wagner, Sr., 91, of Belleville, Ill., born Thursday, July 20, 1922, in Belleville, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Wayne was the former owner of the Wagner Motor Car Company in Belleville, Ill., where he was the third generation Buick dealer from 1956 to 1984. He was a member of the Downtown Optimist Club, Belleville Elks, Illinois Automobile Dealers' Association, St. Louis Buick Dealers' Association and the Madison/St. Clair Dealers' Association. He was in the Army Air Corps in World War II, and a Korean War Air Force veteran. Wayne attended Duke University and graduated from General Motors Institute.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Elizabeth nee Bruns, Wagner; and parents, Kenneth S. and Irene R., nee Rogers, Wagner.

Surviving are his children, Wayne "Rusty" R. (Sandy) Wagner, Jr. of Millstadt, Ill., Nancy B. Wagner of Belleville, Ill., and Dwight D. (Cindy) Wagner of Swansea, Ill.; sister, Carol Crook of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael (Jean) Wagner of Belleville, Ill., David (Lisa) Wagner of Des Moines, Iowa, Amy (Ryan) Florek of Belleville, Ill., Andrea (Michael) Nunez of Spring Hill, Fla., and Allison Sikes of St. Petersburg, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Wagner, Michael John Wagner, Aria Wagner, Zander Wagner, Sophia Florek, Jacob Florek, Dean Nunez, and Evelynn Nunez; step grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Zinke of Maryville, Ill., and their children Colleen and Chase, Elizabeth Kirschner of Swansea, Ill., and Katherine Hoffmann (Aaron) of Belleville, Ill.; and dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A private service will be held at Kurrus Funeral Home with Pastor Herbert Schafale officiating. Burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
