Charles Latta

Charles "Ed" Edward Latta, 87, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born Sept. 22, 1926, in Cahokia, Ill., passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Latta was retired from Commonfields of Cahokia Water District, after 37 years. He was an ordained minister and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Leona, nee Warren, Latta; a son, Charles Edward Latta; two brothers, Steve and Russell Latta; two sisters, Mildred Gaither and Mozelle Durham.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Glenda May, nee Clark, Latta; his children, Michael (Linda) Latta of North Carolina, Dan Latta of Florida, Judy (Sonny) Travis of New York, and Rick Latta, Nita (Denny) Marlow, Brian Latta, and Karen Latta, all of Illinois; a sister, Elizabeth Edwards of Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was a dear uncle, cousin and friend.

Memorials may be made to Guiding Light Ministries or Heartland Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the funeral home, with Rev. Allie McKnight officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
