Harold "Hal" W. Henkel, 80, of Bellingham passed away January 13, 2014 at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Hal was born August 9, 1933 in Seattle WA. to Erwin and Cora (Scarff) Henkel. Hal graduated from Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1955. Hal retired from Georgia Pacific in 1988. He was an active member of the Church of the Assumption where he enjoyed serving the church and singing in the choir. He is now reunited with wife Anne who preceded him in death in 1989. He is survived by his sister Janet Guall, sons Harold Jr. and Charles (Sarah), 5 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and special and dear friend Carole Quinn. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, January 25, at 10:30am at the Church of the Assumption followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Anne Henkel Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Assumption Catholic School, 2116 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham WA 98225.
