Homer Catrain Obituary

HOMER Lee Catrain, 89, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2014. He was born in Hurst, Illinois on December 13th, 1924. He spent most of his early life in Hot Springs, New Mexico where he excelled in sports and was class president. He was a veteran of WWII. He joined the U.S. Army while still in high school, beginning as a member of the New Mexico State Guard. Upon graduation from high school he became an active duty member of the Army. He received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged from the service in February of 1946. He married Ruth Ryan in Salinas, California on October 6, 1945. He held various jobs until becoming a Millwright. He worked as a Millwright supervisor for Wright -Schuchart- Harbor Co. for over 30 years, working in several western states and western Canada. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was proceeded in death by his father Fernal Catrain, his mother Ruby (Gualdoni) Catrain, brother Ford, sister, Charmaine. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Catrain, daughters Deborah (husband Steve) Erickson and Denette (husband David) Briones, son Michael (wife Christine) Catrain, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. At his request there will be no service. He will be remembered well.
