On June 12, 2013, while surrounded by his family, Theodore Adrian De Hoog peacefully entered his heavenly home. He was born September 12, 1955, in Artesia, CA, to Leonard and Adrianne (Eckhoff) De Hoog. He was raised on a farm in Sumas with his brother and three sisters. Ted graduated from Lynden Christian High School. He married his grade school sweetheart, Eileen Vander Mey, on March 22, 1974, and together they made their home in Sumas and raised four lovely children. Ted was a long time employee of Ferndale Ready Mix. He served his community as a volunteer fireman and EMT and was also a member of the Sumas Christian Reformed Church. An outdoorsman at heart, Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny, and his parents, Leonard and Adrianne. Ted will be greatly missed by his wife, Eileen, of 39 years; daughter Angela (Russ) Martin, children Maddie and Teddy; daughter Barb (Darryl) Lambert, children Allie, Aubree, Ashley and Aubrey; son Tom (Amanda) De Hoog, children Grace, Vince and Oliver; daughter Katie (Dylan) Burke, children Kennedy, Sean, and Jacqueline; sisters Cheri (Swietze) Vander Meulen, Susan (Clark) Jones and Pam (Craig) Hanks; as well as many nieces, nephews and numerous relatives. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 17 with graveside services 12 noon at Sumas Cemetery followed by a 1 pm memorial service at Sumas Christian Reformed Church, 700 Sumas Ave. in Sumas.
