William Lawrence Barclay, age 85 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30th, 2013. Bill was a true blessing to Charles and Minnie Barclay as he was their 8th and last child born on Veterans Day Nov. 11th, 1927in Donnelly, MN. It was with true patriotism that he "exaggerated" his age to enable enlistment into the United States Navy during WW II. After his service in the War, he ultimately fell in love and married a girl that he knew all of his life. Ona Mae Johnson and Bill Barclay shared a one room school house together that eventually led to 59 years of marriage. Together they raised 4 children, one of which left this world way too soon at the tender age of 3. We are rejoicing the fact that Bill is once again reunited with Greg for the first time in over 50 years. Bill spent his 50+ working years all over the U.S. starting in Metaline Falls, WA. with Seattle City Light and retiring for the first time in Midland, MI from Bechtel Construction. He then opened a new chapter in his life owning and managing several small businesses until he truly retired in 2000 moving to Worley, ID. With desires to be closer to his family, Bill and Ona moved to their final home in Lynden, WA. in 2008. They became members of Faith Community Church where Bill spent his last years growing in his knowledge and faith of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. Bill was a gifted musician and could play any instrument given 1 hour to practice. He loved the outdoors in every aspect but most of all enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing his life experiences and teaching how to be a honoring loving husband, father, and friend. Bill was preceded in death by his Parents; Charles and Minnie, 6 sisters; Esther, Hazel, Laura, Margaret, Violet, and 1 brother; Lester, and 1 son; Greg. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; Ona Mae; 3 children; Randy (Sally), Penny (Greg Bowen), Brian (Christine), and 9 grandchildren; Terry (Michelle), Deanna, Billy Barclay, Stephanie and Kendra Bowen, Derek, Brett (Amanda), Kyle, Collin Barclay; many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Faith Community Church in Lynden, WA. on Aug 24th, 2013 at 11 a.m. with lunch reception immediately following.
