Joseph James Belonis died at his home in Birch Bay, Washington after a long, successful and happy life on May 30, 2013 at the age of 87 and one day. Joe was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on May 29, 1926 to Anthony and Victoria Belonis. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II and the Korean War from 1943 to 1952. During that stint, he married the love of his life, June Hanson, and settled in Seattle. After the military, he attended Seattle University, attained his degree in education and began a 30 year career with the Seattle School District. He served as a teacher, counselor, vice principal and retired in 1986 as the principal of Blaine Jr High. Joe was a good natured and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, whom we will all miss. He always had time for his family and was quick with a hug and a kiss. He was friendly to everyone and a true gentleman. He and his wife enjoyed traveling around the United States and other countries by car and cruise ship. Joseph was preceded in death by his son Jim and brothers John, Tony and Bill. He is survived by his wife June, sons John (Judy) of Los Angeles, CA, son Victor(Carlene)of Renton, WA and Miguel of Seattle, WA, Grandchildren Lisa(Garrick)Lo, Jenny(Hoku) Peters of Seattle, WA, Jasmine Belonis of Kenai, Alaska, Mark Bigford of Seattle, WA, and Adam, Chris and Max Belonis of Los Angeles, great grandsons Ryan and Matthew Lo of Sammamish,WA, sister-in-law Aleda Carter, niece Chris(Jack)Bruner, niece Leanne(Chuck)Southerly of Spokane, WA and numerous other nieces and nephews.
