1942-2013 Edward "Jack" Morse, 70, a resident of North Branch St. in Bennington died Monday February 25, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Bennington, VT March 26, 1942. Jack was the son of the late Edward J. and Ruth (Pierson) Morse. He received his education in Bennington and was a 1961 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. Following high school Jack joined the United States Marine Corp serving from 1961 to 1965.
He married the former Annette Carey on August 28, 1965 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
In earlier years Jack was employed at the Warren Wire Company. He later worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company and retired from Prudential Insurance Company.
An avid golfer, Jack was a member of the Mount Anthony Country Club where he caddied as a child. An accomplished player, Jack was the Senior Club Champion and had 7 holes in one. In earlier years Jack was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks and had been a member of their softball team. He also enjoyed, hunting, playing pool, darts and pitch. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Morse of Bennington. His children and their spouses, Donna McAuliffe and her husband Chris of Plymouth, N.H., Laura Hoag and her husband Chip of Pownal, VT and Dan Morse and his wife Tiffany of Bennington. Six grandchildren, Ashley, Natasha, Kyle, Kasondra, Leah and Amber. Two great grandsons, Skylar and Peyton. Two brothers, Joseph Morse and his wife Arlene of Pownal, Michael Morse and his wife Dorothy of Bennington; two sisters, Diane Newton of Maine and Mary DeLong of Florida along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother Richard Morse.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
The burial with military honors will follow at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday March 1 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
