Carl F. Ehle, Jr.

1927 - 2013 LENOXDr. Carl F. Ehle, Jr., 85, for many years a resident of Old Stockbridge Road, Lenox, died Thursday at Hospice of the Fisher Home in North Amherst.

Dr. Ehle was a well-known scholar and Professor of Biblical Languages at the former Berkshire Christian College of Lenox from its inception in 1958 until its closing in 1988. Shortly thereafter he helped to found the Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies (BICS) on the campus of Hope Advent Christian Church, also in Lenox.

He was born in Aberdeen, Washington March 14, 1927, son of Carl F. Ehle, Sr. and Marguerite Larkin Ehle. He earned his B.A. from the New England School of Theology, his B.D. from the Gordon College of Theology and Missions, and his Ph.D. from New York University. He was a past president of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew, and was awarded an educational scholarship to study in Israel in 1962.

Dr. Ehle and his wife, Margaret Morin Ehle, were married August 30, 1947.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Kathryn M. Ehle of Agawam, Carl F. "Rick" Ehle III and wife Sandra of Hancock, Laura R. Ehle of Largo, Maryland, David J. Ehle and wife Sue of Springfield, Miriam A. "Mimi"Babbitt and husband Dave of Barhamsville, Virginia, and Jonathan Ehle and wife Carol of Friendship, Maine; one sister Beverly Teshera and husband George of Bellingham, WA; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for Dr. Carl F. Ehle, Jr., will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 am at Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. Visitation will be Monday evening at Hope Church from 4-6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies (BICS), 249 Kemble Street, Lenox, MA 01240
