Charles N. "Chuck" Najimy
1938-2013 Chuck was born on April 25, 1938 to Charles J. & Margaret Smart Najimy in Danbury, Conn. The family moved to Pittsfield when he was 2 years old. He attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1956.
During his high school years and briefly afterward, Chuck worked at his father's grocery store on South St. in Pittsfield. He proudly served as an active duty member of the United States Marines attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Chuck met the love of his life and married Cherolyn Bourdo on June 24, 1961.
He was employed at Kimberly-Clark/Schweitzer Mauduit in Lee for 33 years having retired in 1998. His positions in the company included papermaker, safety superintendent, IT Instructor, and Emergency Response Team Leader. He also served as a Park
for the Pittsfield Parks Department, was a Massachusetts EMT, as well as a long time First Aid and CPR instructor for the American Red Cross .
Chuck accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior of his life in 1980. He was a member of Christian Assembly Church, where over the years he served in several ministry positions, including Deacon and Prison Ministry.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League and was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Pittsfield Detachment.
Besides his wife, Cherolyn, of Pittsfield, Charles leaves three sons; David A. Maynard and his wife Candy of Ludlow, Harold A. Maynard of Springfield, Charles J. Najimy and his wife Amy of Savoy. His three daughters; Sally J. Jones and her husband, Rev. Michael Jones of Oakdale, Conn., Lynnette S. Najimy of Housatonic, and Rena L. Rose and her husband Walter of Pittsfield. He also leaves two sisters; Sister Miriam Najimy, DHM of Holyoke and Vivian Delgado and her husband Emiliano of Dalton, and a brother-in-law, Duane Buckley of Reseda, Calif. Chuck was pre-deceased by two brothers, Norman C. Najimy and Robert S. Najimy, and his sister-in-law; Jaqueline Najimy. Known as "Jidoo", he also leaves 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and friends, all of whom Chuck enjoyed and loved with all his heart.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Charles N. "Chuck" Najimy, who died January 21, 2013 will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church on Williams Street in Pittsfield conducted by Pastor David McIntosh. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME. Memorial donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the Food Pantry at Christian Assembly Church or to the Salvation Army of Pittsfield both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
