1915-2014 Mr. E. John Reinke, 98 of 1611 Cold Spring Rd. Williamstown, died Monday March 17, 2014 at North Adams Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Haven, Conn., on July 31, 1915, son of Emil J. and Sarah Jane (Ryan) Reinke. He attended New Haven schools and graduated from the New Haven High School. John graduated from the University of New Haven and also studied at the University of Iowa and Yale University. He served in the Coast Guard Reserves. John was last employed as the Vice-President and Comptroller at Arnold Print Works in Adams where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown, where he served as its Treasurer and was a member of its Vestry. John also sang in the church choir. John was active in many civic and community affairs in Adams and Williamstown. He was a member of the Williams College Faculty Club. John enjoyed golf and was a member of the Taconic Golf Club. He also enjoyed sailing and travel, especially to England and Europe. John is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Wilson Sprague whom he married on November 13, 1975. One daughter; Johanna Reinke of Kennebunk, Maine, two sons; Peter Reinke and his wife, Sandra of Vernon, Conn.; and Karl Reinke of Watertown, Mass., two grandchildren- Michelle Reinke Neblett and her husband, Ron of Arlington, Va.; and Kristin Reinke of Brookline, Mass. He also leaves two stepchildren including Robert C. Sprague III and his wife, Ann of Frisco, Texas; and Dianna Stugger and her husband, Walter of Stratton, Vt.; and four step grandchildren including Suzanne Sprague-Trammell, Sara Sprague, Robert C. Sprague IV, and D. Connor Sprague; one step great grandchild- Evelyn Rose Trammell; one nephew and two nieces. John was pre-deceased by his first wife, Ethel Marie Wilcox Reinke who died in May of 1973. They were married in November of 1940. His sister, Wilhelmina Jane Johnson is also deceased. John's family would like to thank the staff at North Adams Regional Hospital and Sweetbrook Nursing Home for their compassionate care. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for John Reinke will be Saturday March 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
