Edward S. Passetto

1985 - 2013 LEE Edward Stephen Passetto, 28, passed away Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, after a long struggle with PTSD.

He was born in Pittsfield on April 22, 1985, the son of Patricia Phillips Passetto and the late Michael J. Passetto. He grew up in Lenox Dale and graduated from Lee High School in 2004. Ed was a member of the Lee High School Ski Team and the Lee High Band.

He joined the Marine Corps where he served for seven years stationed in Yuma, Ariz., as an aircraft mechanic working on AV8B Harrier Jets. He did several tours of Iraq and Afghanistan where he received numerous medals for service.

In 2011, after leaving the service, he moved to Pittsfield and was attending BCC where he was a member of Student Veteran Alliance Group and an active member of the Pittsfield Marine Corps League Detachment 137.

He is survived by his wife, Samantha Hofsdal, of Tucson, Ariz., whom he married in February of 2009; his son, Aiden Michael Passetto of Tucson; his mother, Patricia Phillips Passetto of Lee; a brother, Michael Passetto II of Lee; a sister, Jennifer Passetto McKay of Raymond, Maine; a grandfather, Neil Phillips of Indian Island, Maine, and numerous relatives on both sides.

He was predeceased by his father, Michael J. Passetto, who died Feb. 12, 2005.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Edward Passetto will be held Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery with Military Honors. Any members of the military willing and able to attend please wear your dress uniform as a sign of respect for our US Military and the family.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee.
