"Red" Hibbard

1931 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Francis W. "Red" Hibbard, 81, of 96 Plunkett St., died Sunday April 7, 2013, at his home.

Born in Pittsfield on June 21, 1931, he was the son of John and Margaret Davidson Hibbard Sr. A lifelong resident, he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Hibbard was employed in the special service department with New England Telephone Co. retiring in 1992 after 36 years of service.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

An Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Pittsfield VFW Post 448, a member of the Msgr. Marshall Council 103 Third Degree Knights of Columbus, and a communicant of St. Charles Church.

He leaves his wife, the former Marguerite LaBonte, whom he married April 21 1956, in North Adams; six daughters, Diane Hibbard of Chicopee, Patricia Giardina of Cheshire, Catherine Salvini of Pittsfield, Mary Hibbard of Cheshire, Anne White of Reno, Nev., and Eillen Hibbard of Pittsfield; two sons, Michael Hibbard of Plainfield, Ind., and John Hibbard of Enfield, Conn.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Francis W. "Red" Hibbard died Sunday April 7, 2013. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held ThursDAY, April 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Inurnment will be in St. Michael The Archangel Mausoleum located in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME.
