James I. Arthur
PITTSFIELD James I. Arthur, 89, of Eastham, passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2013.He leaves his wife of 67 years, Inella Cooper, and daughters, Sue Clark of Brewster and Nora Potts of Eastham and their families.
He was predeceased by his son, James, Jr., and by daughters, Jean and Betsy.
Jim served his country during World War II in the Navy aboard the USS Eaton in the South Pacific where he earned a Purple Heart.
He retired from the Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield and moved to Cape Cod to be near family.
Jim loved golf and shot a hole-in-one at the age of 88 at Chequessett Country Club where he was a longtime member. An avid fan of the Boston Celtics, he never missed watching a game. He enjoyed his almost daily visits to Willy's Gym and loved doing anything for his family.
