John Peter Cetti

John Peter Cetti of Agawam passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 10, 2013 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. Born and raised in West Stockbridge, Mass., he was the son of the late Phillip Cetti and Assunta (Demolino) Cetti. He was pre deceased by his first wife Rosemarie Pivero in 1981 with whom he had three children. Christine Buchek of Duluth, Ga., John (Jack) Cetti and wife Nancy of Marietta, Ga., and Mark Cetti and his wife Dulce of Cumming, Ga. He has several Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brothers Albert, Philip, Peter and his sisters Lena, Eunice, Della, and Doris. He leaves many nephews and nieces. He leaves his beloved wife Alba (Mariani) Cetti of 45 Years of Agawam, Ma., also his stepdaughter Louise Heaton and her husband Stanley G. Heaton Jr. and their son Stephen Heaton all of Southwick, Ma. John Served in the Army during World War II. He was in ground combat in Normandy and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He served for 25 months on overseas duty in the European Theatre Operations, receiving several medals including Good Conduct Medal, A Victory Medal and European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. John received an Honorable Discharge on November 30, 1945, and continued serving as a contractor to his local community in the plumbing and heating industry for over 50 years both in Pittsfield and Agawam. He was the plumbing inspector for Hinsdale and Becket, Ma. Besides being a happy person and always willing to lend a helping hand, he loved his family and provided for their every need, and enjoyed spending time with his family. During the 1970's he owned the Melody Bar and Grill in West Springfield. Donations may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers Home at 110 Cherry Street Holyoke, MA 01040. The family would like to express their thanks for the love, respect and excellent care John received while he was at the Holyoke Soldiers Home.
