1944 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Lawrence J. Partridge Jr., 69, of Gloucester, formerly of Pittsfield, died Aug. 8, 2013, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Pittsfield on July 9, 1944, son of Lawrence and Mary Partridge, he was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He earned his BS degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, a MS in Civil Engineering/Environmental Studies at North Carolina State University, and received a Doctor of Science degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health. He also attended the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Larry retired as a vice president at Arthur D. Little Management Consulting Firm in Cambridge. For several years, he consulted and taught classes at Tufts University, focusing on the Control of Material Spills, Landfill Studies, and Solid Waste Management. He was also a contributor to several scientific journals.
An accomplished golfer, he was a member of the Ipswich Country Club in Ipswich.
He is survived by his three children, Melissa L. Partridge of Newburyport, Heather L. Richard and her husband, Michael, of Essex, and L. John Partridge III of Ipswich. Larry was the devoted grandfather of Hadleigh, Henry and Tess Richard, and took great pleasure in attending sporting events they competed in. Additionally, he leaves his brother, Daniel Partridge and his wife, Sally, and nieces, Caitlin and Cara Partridge of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Per Larry's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
