M. Lee Neff

1940-2013 DALTON Margaret Lee Neff, 73, died on November 8, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center. Lee was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 23, 1940, the daughter of the late Leo R. and Margaret (Lee) Andersen. She graduated from Ottumwa (Iowa) High School in 1958. The University of Iowa awarded her dual master's degrees, in Audiology and in Speech/Language Pathology. For 25 years, Lee was an audiologist and the director of speech and hearing at several hospitals in Boston and environs. She then worked in the music department of the Concord (Mass.) schools for ten years. After relocating here in 1998, she served in the offices of Berkshire Health Systems' rehabilitation department, at Arrowhead and then at Ventfort Hall. A lover of the arts and a classically-trained pianist, Lee was a frequent attendee at Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Company and at South Mountain Concerts. An exceptionally warm and gregarious person, Lee will be widely missed. Lee is survived by her husband of thirty years, Robert B. Neff, of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the arts organization of your choice. BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226 is in charge of arrangements.
