Mary A. King

1917-2013 Mary A. King, 95, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Evergreen Health Center in Stafford, Connecticut. She was born in Pittsfield on December 21, 1917, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Corey Herlihy. Mary had made her home in Lee, and was a graduate of St. Mary's School, and was a 1936 graduate of Lee High School. She started work at the Smith Paper Co. in Lee in 1936 and then for the Peter J. Schweitzer Paper Co. retiring in 1979 from the then Kimberly Clark Corp. in Quality Control. She had made her home in Lee until moving to Morgan Manor in Lenox in 1994 and South Windsor, Conn. in 2002, and then to Evergreen Health Center in 2006. Her husband, Francis D. King, whom she married September 6, 1947 died January 3, 1994 Mary is survived by her nieces, Elizabeth A. Patty of Springfield, and Myra Whiffen of Pittsfield; and nephews, Gregory Ashe of Port Charlotte, Fla., William Herlihy of St. Augustine, Fla., and James Herlihy of Westfield. She also leaves several great nieces and great nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and William Herlihy; and her sister, Elizabeth H. Ashe; as well as a nephew, Edward Herlihy; and two nieces, Elizabeth Ashe and Joan Barnes. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral for Mary King will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 9:15 a.m. from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Lee at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home will be Friday, November 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. Friends wishing may make donations to Breast Cancer Research or in care of the funeral home.
