Mary Louise Libardi Renak
1940-2012 DALTON Mary L. Renak, of Dalton, beloved wife of Tom Renak, passed away on August 6, 2012. She fought bravely against cancer for over a year.
Mary was born on August 9, 1940 in West Stockbridge, Mass., to Joseph Libardi and Rose (Merci) Libardi, both now deceased. She grew up in West Stockbridge and Pittsfield and was educated at St. Charles School and St. Joseph's High School.
She was one of eight siblings. Her brother, Joseph, died a decorated hero in World War II, receiving both a
and a Silver Star for his bravery in action. The American Legion Post in West Stockbridge was named after him. Others include sisters, Mary Libardi, Mrs. Julia Shea, Mrs. Emma Tukey, and Mrs. Edith Wrzesinski, all deceased. She is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Theresa Durant and Rose Lucy Libardi.
She is also survived by her husband, Irwin T. Renak; step-daughters, Mrs. Valerie A. Sharper (and David), Amy E. Renak (and Mark Mitchell), and her niece and nephew, Christina and Lance Gratton.
Mary worked at GE Ordnance Systems for many years, retiring in 1983.
Mary loved her new home in Dalton and was skilled at creating a beautifully coordinated interior design and furnishings. She loved her family and cared for them with great affection.
She will be missed with unending sadness.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mary L. Renak will be held Friday, August 10, at 11 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield with Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires, Inc., 877 South Street, Suite 1 West, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
