Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Ronald Hopley.
son of Dora and David Hopley of Pittsfield, passed away on September 9, 2013 at his home in Mesa, Arizona. Ronald attended Purdue University in Illinois receiving an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served in Europe as a 1st Lieutenant and is a decorated Veteran of World War II. Ronald married Lucille Reddington, also of Pittsfield, in 1948 and was employed with the General Electric Company in their Mechanical & Technical Development Department. Ronald and Lucille had two daughters, Susan Hopley Fletcher of Santa Fe, N.M. and Laura Hopley Urrea of Florence, Ariz. Ronald moved his family to Boston in 1963 to start his own company called AVTEC Electronics and began developing DOS computer language technology which was the start of our amazing computer technology of today. Ronald had a wonderful happy attitude of family first, helping others, and educating all he encountered. In 1990 a lovely granddaughter, Cody Rose Nickerson, arrived that blessed their lives. Ronald retired in 1993 and he and Lucille moved to Arizona in order to be a daily part of her life as she was growing up. In 2007 his lovely wife of 59 years, Lucille, passed into the loving arms of our Lord, and now Ronald is with her again in a life everlasting of Joy and Peace. He will be missed by family and friends alike, but his legacy of honor, integrity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
