Rudolph "Rudy" Canales

1933 - 2013 HANCOCK Rudolph Francis "Rudy" Canales, 79, of 2258 Hancock Rd., Hancock, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at North Adams Commons.

He was born in Somerville on June 22, 1933, son of the late Celio and Cordillia (LaFave) Canales. He graduated from Williamstown High School and also graduated from a trade school for electricians. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Army. He was employed at the General Cable Co. in Williamstown and later was a self-employed electrician. Rudy also served as the building and electrical inspector for the towns of Williamstown, Hancock and New Ashford. He was a communicant of Saints Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown and was a longtime baseball coach in Williamstown.

His wife, Mary Anne (Richardson) Canales, whom he married August 31, 1954, died February 23, 2012.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Marie Liuzzi and her husband Ron of Hancock, and one son, Rudolph Allen Canales of Hancock; four grandchildren, Atara and her husband Maleek Thompson, Savannah, R.J. and Rudi-Nicole. He also leaves a great-grandson, Maleek Thompson Jr; and three brothers, Richard Canales and his wife Ruth of Keene,N.H., Daniel Canales and his wife Lorretta of Manchester, VT., and George Canales and his wife Nancy of North Adams, who thought of Rudy as his father. He leaves two other sisters-in-law, Rose Garrison and Edna Richardson.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in Hancock Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. Donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
