Thelma Mae Drury

1943 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Thelma Mae Decker Drury, 71, of 41 Garden St., died at home Aug. 6, 2014. Thelma was born in Pittsfield on June 28, 1943, the daughter of Thurman and Josephine Potash Decker. Thelma was a graduate of P. H. S. in 1961. After graduation, she worked at G.E., the former Hilton Hotel, and the former City Savings Bank. Thelma was a member of the Elks Club where she unselfishly donated her time to its many causes. When her sons were young, she was always the organizer of their many refreshment stands for their sports games. Thelma enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, gardening, watching her children and grandchildren at their sports events and sports games. Thelma also gave much of her time and effort to the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund. In early years Thelma was one of the First women to be on the Jimmy Fund Council along with Rosemary Dowd and Cathy Saldo. Thelma is survived by her husband of 52 years, John J. Drury, whom she married on April 28, 1962; her two beloved sons Joseph J. Drury and his wife, Holly of Pittsfield and Timothy Drury and his wife, Jodi, of Lenox; two grandchildren, Joseph J. Drury Jr. and his wife, Lauren, and Jennifer Drury Bennett and her husband, Christopher, of Pittsfield; two stepgrandchildren, Zilion Santos and Zenani Santos of Lenox; four great-grandchildren, Milo and Linos of Portland, Ore., and Ciana and Christopher of Pittsfield; Thelma's brother, George T. Decker and his wife, Barbara, of Pittsfield and Englewood, Fla., along with many dear cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Thelma Mae Decker Drury, 71, will be Sunday (tomorrow) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Berkshire County Jimmy Fund and Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
