Walter C. Christopher

1918 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Walter C. Christopher, 96, of 581 Williams St., died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. He was born in Lenox on Jan. 19, 1918, a son of the late Biagio and Enrica DiCicco Christofaro. He attended schools in Lenox. He was employed by the General Electric Co. for a short time, and was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of WW II and served in the Air Force, in England, with the 100th Bomb Group. His wife, the former Catherine A. Tomasini, whom he married in 1941, died Feb. 23, 2010. Survivors include one son, Charles Christopher of Rochester, N.Y. and one daughter, Carol Christopher of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, Kevin Christopher of Tucson, Ariz. and Nicole Gupta of Rochester, N.Y.; two great-granddaughters, Melina and Camilla, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Rudolph, Daniel, Sinaldo, and William Christopher, and three sisters, Edith Mangano, Lena Seddon, and Stina Bruseghini. FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no calling hours. The funeral will be Saturday, March 15 at 8:15 a.m., from the FLYNN AND DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Ma. 01201, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
