William H. Brighenti

1937 - 2013 TYRINGHAM William H. Brighenti, 76, died Thursday morning at his home on Goose Pond Road, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Pittsfield on July 30, 1937, the son of the late Marshall and Lena Cadenelli Brighenti. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Lee. He spent the last 25 years living in Tyringham.

Bill worked as a mechanic at Lee Ford, Seyfer Ford and Johnson Ford and then as an industrial fabricator for VanZandt Sheetmetal and Fabrication in Leonx Dale.

During Vietnam, he served in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany as a jeep mechanic.

Bill was a member of numerous organizations including: Trout Unlimited, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club, Ducks Unlimited, Route 100 Snow Travelers (in Vermont), Vermont Association of Snow Travelers, Boat Owners Association of the U.S., Lee Kiwanis and the Lee VFW. He was also an honorary member of the Lee Fire Department and was an active member of the Lee Sportsman's Club, where he was a past president and served on the Board of Directors.

Bill was very active right up until his death, enjoying all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and spending time in Vermont at the Owl's Nest camp which he and his family owned. He enjoyed helping people and spending time with his family and his "adopted" beagle, Daisy.

Bill is survived his former wife, Jeanne Ouellette Brighenti of Lee; two sons, Joseph Brighenti and his wife, Kristen, of Lee and Charles Brighenti and his wife, Tonya, of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; two daughters, Maureen Soules of Lee and Barbara Abderhalden and her husband, William II, of Lee; two sisters, Norma Tokoly of Lee and Rena Gleason of Worcester; 11 grandchildren, Jason and Justin Soules, Jeanne, William III and Scott Abderhalden, Dylan, Sadie and Tori Brighenti and Eric Turner-Brighenti, Derek and Julia Brighenti, and four great-grandchildren, Tye Soules, Landon and Lincoln Zerbato and Aubrie O'Brien.

He was predeceased by a brother, James Brighenti in 2005 and by a nephew, James Brighenti Jr. in 2013.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for William Brighenti will be Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
