William F. Rheaume
1946 - 2014 PITTSFIELD William 'Billy' F. Rheaume, 67, of 940 Belmont St., Brockton, Mass., died on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the West Roxbury V.A. Medical Center. He became disabled in a hit and run accident while riding a moped, that he had rebuilt, on May 5, 2002, that resulted in him becoming a quadriplegic. He battled multiple complications throughout the years. A Pittsfield native, Billy was born on June 20, 1946, in Pittsfield, the son of William P. and Anna Lopresto Rheaume. He grew up in Pittsfield and attended St. Charles School and graduated from Pittsfield High School. He enrolled in the Marine Corps in August of 1965 and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam and being discharged from the Marines, Mr. Rheaume served in the Army National Guard for many years. He attended college and then worked as a registered nurse. Billy was strong, optimistic, and tenacious. He was caring, generous, and helped others. He had a sense of humor, loved to hear people laugh, and always had new jokes to tell. He was skilled at, and loved, fixing cars, motorcycles, and household appliances. Billy was creative and enjoyed photography, drawing and painting, sculpting, and singing and listening to music, Jazz, the blues, and Frank Sinatra. Billy will be greatly missed and is survived by his daughter, Leeann Rheaume of Connecticut; mother, Anna Rheaume; older sister, Beverly Garceau and her husband, David; younger sister, Donna Alfonso and her husband, Joseph, an aunt and uncle, nieces and nephews, and ex-wife and long time friend, Sherilyn Rheaume, and friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for William "Billy" Rheaume will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Michael Lillpopp, parochial vicar. Burial with full military honors will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in Billy's name may be made to the VA Spinal Cord Injury Unit (A-2) in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is handling arrangements.
