1933 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Belanger, Donald Columbia, S.C., age 83, died Friday April 11, 2014. Don was born on April 8, 1933 in Jamaica Plain, MA. He was the son of the late Daniel E. Belanger and Anne MacNeil Belanger. Don was born and raised in Jamaica Plain and relocated to Columbia in recent years to be closer to family. He attended Jamaica Plain High School and Northeastern University. Don served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at the Foxboro Company for over 30 years as a tax accountant. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. He loved a good joke, a fresh lobster and a single malt scotch, especially in the company of his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Miller Belanger of Columbia, S.C.; a son, Richard Belanger (Emily) of Ann Arbor, MI; a daughter, Annemarie Belanger Mathews (Roderick "Matt") of Columbia, S.C.; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Belanger, Alexander Belanger, Roy Mathews and Benjamin Mathews. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Luxton (Dean) of Wenham, MA and his brother, Bryce Belanger of Rotunda, FL. A memorial service will be held on Thursday April 17, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the at www.alz.org.
