DONALD J. MACINTYRE Obituary
MacINTYRE, Donald J. 79 of South Yarmouth died on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Beloved husband of 48 years to Phyllis (Kelleher) MacIntyre. Devoted father of Carla M. Dunn of Attleboro and her husband William. Cherished grandfather of Tayla, William III, Karley Dunn. Dear brother of Mary McParland, Sandra Parisi, Lorraine Gallagher, Donna Kitt, Kathleen Rossi and the late Marjorie Witkowicz. Donald was born in Boston to the late Donald and Florence (Cameron) MacIntyre of Canada. He was raised and educated in Brookline. Graduate of Northeastern University. Member of Sigma Epsilon Rho Honor Society. Donald was a detective with the Brookline Police Department. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service in 1999. Donald received many citations and awards throughout his career, including Police Officer of the Year in 1979 and Outstanding Performance in the line of duty in 1985. Don was an avid boater, he loved the sea and spent many hours on the waters off Nantucket Sound on his boat Someday. It has been said If you want the definition of a good man, look at Don MacIntyre. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation on Friday, February 7 from 9-9:45 AM at Morris, OConnor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Interment will be held at Woodside Cemetery Yarmouth Port. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice 434 Route 134, Suite D-3 South Dennis, MA 02660.
