Bulduc, Col. Ernestine H.
US Army (ret.). 89 of The Brigham House, Watertown, died March 2, 2013. Ernestine (Tine) was the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Ernestine (Mercier) Bolduc. Ernestine is survived by her sister Geraldine C. O'Halloran of The Brigham House, Watertown and her sister-in-law Grace Bolduc of Armonk, NY. Tine was also preceded in death by her twin brother. Ernest J. Bolduc ; her brother Raymond Bolduc and his wife Rita; her brother Thomas Bolduc and his wife Virginia (Farrell) and brother-in-law Edward O'Halloran. Tine is survived by many nieces and nephews including: Janet M. O'Halloran of Natick; Edward J. O'Halloran and his wife Louise of Conway Lake, N.H.; Robert M. O'Halloran and his wife Cindy. Deale of Greenville, NC; Michele (Bolduc) and Daniel McQuillen of Needham; Jacqueline Bolduc of Brooklyn, NY; Ann (Bolduc) and her husband Rick Fuller of Huntington Beach, CA; Bill Bolduc and his wife PJ of Wilmington, NC; Donald Bolduc of Elkton, MD, Steven Bolduc and his wife Pam of Williamsburg Virginia; Raymond Bolduc and his wife Ana of Miami, FL , Stephen Bolduc and his wife Laurie of Golden Bridges, NY; Phillip Bolduc and his wife Suzanne of Hancock, NH; Richard Bolduc of Brattleboro, VT. Tine was also the great aunt to 20 nieces and nephews and the Great-Grand Aunt to 8 additional nieces and nephews. Ernestine was born in Lawrence, MA on June 11, 1924 and moved to Watertown with her family where she attended the Hosmer School , St. Patricks' School and Watertown High School (' 42). She did her nursing training at Carney Hospital graduating with an RN in 1947. She then attended Boston College School of Nursing and graduated in 1956. In 1965 she received a Graduate degree from Boston University in Public Health Supervision. In 1956 Ernestine was commissioned into the Army Nurse Corps and she served actively for 20 years retiring as a Colonel in 1975 although she remained a Reserve Officer. Her continental US assignments were as Health Nurse and later Chief and Supervisor Army Health Nurse at US Army facilities which included: Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio Texas; Ft. Benning, GA; Ft. Campbell, KY; Ft. Belvoir, VA; Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Devens, MA. Overseas assignments included the 34th General Hospital in France, the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany and Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. Colonel Bolduc was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with 2nd Oakleaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. After her retirement, Tine continued to work as an Occupational Health and Hospital Nurse for ten years in the Boston area including: at Brighton Marine Health Center in Brighton, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital; at BU's Student Health Services; at the Army Labs in Natick, MA and as an exam proctor and registration assistant at Harvard University. She was very active as a volunteer at St. Patrick's Parish in Watertown. Tine loved Boston College and relished her time spent on campus with her friends from the Class of '56 planning reunion activities. She was also very active in the Retired Army Nurse Corp Assn (RANCA). and served as secretary of the National Assn. She loved to travel to the RANCA national conventions. She also savored her summers in Pocasset on Cape Cod. Visiting Hours will be Sunday, March 10th from 2:00-5:00 pm at McDonald, Rockwell & McDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 11th at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Boston College School of Nursing. Checks should be made out to the Trustees of Boston College and the memo line should read "Connell School of Nursing". A note should accompany the check which designates the donation be in memory of Ernestine H. Bolduc.
