GARY J. DUFFEY Obituary
DUFFEY, Gary J. 53, of Seekonk, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was the husband of Martha Duffey. Born January 21, 1961 in Brunswick, Maine. He was the son of the late Lt. Col. William Norman and Rosemary Duffey. He was a graduate of Bedford High School, Bedford, MA. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Graphics Design from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY while at the same time attending US Army ROTC. He received his Masters degree from Rhode Island College, Providence, RI in Educational Leadership. Maj. Gary Duffey was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany early on in his time with the Army where he served as a Tank Commander, and performed numerous jumps as a Paratrooper. Gary was a Graphic Arts instructor while serving in the Army Reserves. His latest tour of duty was in Kabul Afghanistan in 2006. He was part of the Reserves Civil Affairs Unit in Rhode Island upon his return. In his early years, Gary served as a lead pressman at the Regal Press Inc, Norwood, MA and Foremost Lithograph Providence, RI. He was also owner and operator of Promenade Press in Providence, RI. Garys passion was in teaching, he taught Graphics Arts at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, Harwich, MA, Somerville Trade High School, Somerville, MA; Minuteman Regional Technical High School, Lexington, MA, Coventry High School, Coventry, RI; Madison Park High School, Boston, MA, and Providence Career & Technical Academy. Providence, RI. He leaves his wife of 25 years, son Lucas John Duffey of Melbourne, FL, two brothers, William N. Duffey Jr. an his wife Barbara of Westwood, MA, Brian R. Duffey and his wife Catherine of Chelmsford, MA, one sister Donna Mullen, and her husband Dennis of Chelmsford, MA, his mother Rosemary Duffey of Chelmsford, MA, and various nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday, Feb 14th, 2014 at 4PM in First United Pentecostal Church, 175 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA. A Calling Period will be held from 3-4 PM with services to follow. Burial will take place Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Shawsheen Cemetery, Shawsheen Road, Bedford, MA.
