GEORGE LEADER Obituary
Leader, George George Leader, 83, released his mortal coil Jul 30, 2014. He took the advice of Dylan Thomas and raged raged raged against the light. George was a scoundrel, teller of long stories, a salesman, an investor and in his time, an outdoorsman. He lived his life fully and on his own terms. At different times of his life he could be found in Wakefield, NH; Hull, MA; Vero Beach, FL; Spain, Italy, Ireland, Mexico and any local flea market or yard sale that caught his eye. He leaves his wife and enabler of 62 years, Hannah. Two sons, Jack and his wife Judith Haber, Roy and his wife Sue. 4 Grandchildren, Teddy, Patrick, Nick and his wife Courtney and Emma. George was a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Johnny Hutchins, protecting the East Coast from Communist invasion during the Korean Conflict. He thanks the VA for his free hearing aids and the electric scooter. He had a successful 24 year careet selling life insurance, from which he was able to retire in 1979. He enjoyed retirement for the past 35 years thanks to real estate investments made early and the stock market guided by Warren Buffet and Bruce Berkowitz. An evening of drinking and Chinese Food will be held on Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 9:30 at Post 440, California St, Newton, to celebrate his life. No flowers of any kind. Please make a donation in his name to either Women for UMass, contact Stephanie Flaherty @ 413-545-1466 or The New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St, Boston, MA. Life's Journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out shouting "Holy cow....What a ride!"
