Obituary Condolences

LEONE, Gerard Jr. Son of Gerard Leone Sr and Jeanne DeSimone Leone, at the age of 70, died on Friday, November 8th in the morning at his home in Roswell, GA. Mr. Leone held two degrees from RPI; a B.S. in Building Sciences from the School of Engineering and a Graduate Degree, Bachelor of Architecture, from the Graduate School of Design. He attended Harvard University in a Post Graduate program for a Masters of Architecture which was not complete due to his being drafted into the Army for the Vietnam War. He served with the 101st Airborne Unit, in Vietnam, where he was badly wounded and sent back to the states. He finished out his service with 82nd Airborne unit. Upon leaving the army, he resumed his career in construction management. He held certifications in many areas of constructions. He worked on many of the big projects during his career, including The Big Dig in Boston Mass, the repair projects in Pensacola, Florida from Hurricane Ivan and several projects involving marine projects both for the Army Corp of Engineers and for the MDC of Boston. His last major project was as Quality Control Manager, the 200 million dollar project in 2009-2010 for the US Naval Base in Guam for the Wharf Facilities. Mr. Leone was married to his high school sweetheart, Sandy Livingston for 32 years. She died in 1998. He never remarried. Throughout his life he was plagued by serious and persistent health problems due to the wounds he received in Vietnam yet he never let them deter him from do anything he wanted to do. His was an avid and gifted furniture maker. His passions were skiing, hiking, hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his brother Joseph G. Leone, his sister Jeanne Leone, sister in-law Sheila Leone, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
