Obituary Condolences

ALBERICO, Gertrude M. 64, of Popponesset Beach, Mashpee, formerly of Andover passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a 17 year battle with breast cancer on July 23, 2013. She won many battles along the way. She was strong, and brave survivor who fought a tough fight till the very end. She was the beloved wife of Peter M. Alberico and the daughter of the late Gertrude (Gillis) and Joseph G. Reusch Sr. Gertrude graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, MA. She attended Boston State College for her undergrad and ultimately graduated from Boston College with her masters in teaching. She pursued her career and her passion as a special education teacher. Being a Special Ed. Teacher was always in her heart. She especially loved spending summers, in the early years of her career, as a teacher and counselor at the Boston Harbor Island summer camp special ed. programs. During her career she became an assistant principal and a principal in North Andover School systems. She was also an avid golfer and was a member of the New Seabury Womans Golf Association. She also loved spending time at the Popponesset Beach and digging her toes in the sand. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister and friend and will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her. In addition to her husband Peter, she is survived by 3 children, Nicole M. Alberico of Popponesset Beach, Mashpee, Michael P. Alberico of South Boston, Brian Remie Alberico and wife Sarah of Weymouth, and her brother John J. Reusch of Readville. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph G. Reusch Jr. A visitation will be held at the John Lawrence Funeral Home 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Rte 28) Marstons Mills on Thursday July 25, 2013 from 4 to 8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Christ the King Parish 3 Jobs Fishing Rd. Mashpee on Friday July 26, 2013 at 11:30am. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute - Memorial Contributions directed to Breast Cancer, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
