It was truly a blessing to meet you....you were a good friend and such a character. You always had me laughing and you were just such a joy to be around. I always think about and can't believe you were taken from us so soon. Every time I see pictures of your daughter, I see you and say, "Look at those eyes!"....RIP my love

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Gidelina (Lina) Pineda our Sister in Arms. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Lina. And to Lina it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her service while deployed with the U.S. Army in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and for her continuing service as a Veterans Service Officer with the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Affairs. No greater love and patriotism are shown than a woman devotes her life in service to her country. Lina, you are a loyal Army Warrior and a true Patriot. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Lina's family and loved ones.
