GLORIA (BANOS) BATES Obituary
Bates, Gloria (Banos) In Framingham, formerly of Osterville, January 9, (74) following a long illness. Devoted daughter of Amelia Fillios Banos of Revere and the late Petros Christos Banos of Marmari, Greece. She is survived by her daughters, Meredith S. Daly and her husband Charles of Clayton, NC, and Sarah B. Daly and her partner, Douglas Tracia of Framingham, with whom Gloria lived the last years of her life; cherished sister Theon Banos Cross of San Diego and beloved brother, the late Christos Banos. Adored grandmother of Michael Daly and his wife Sarah of Ashland, Jennifer Daly, Christopher Daly, and Meghan Daly of Framingham, Ashley Lessard and husband Bob of Knightdale, NC, and Samantha Daly of Clayton, NC. Loving great grandmother of Brody Horton and Sebastian Lessard. Also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law Regina Banos and nephews Fenn Cross and Peter Banos, and former husband Herbert Bates. Born in Boston, Gloria was graduated from Harvard University and Radcliffe College, Class of 1962, and received an MTS from Andover Newton Theological Seminary. Her life's work was communication, and she excelled as a teacher and marketing communications director at Digital Equipment Corporation until her retirement in 2000. As minister and teacher, she was devoted to compassionate communication for non-profit organizations and was an early advisor to the inception of Jhamtse International, and the Jhamtse Gatsal community in Arunachal Pradesh, India. A memorial service is planned for the spring. Donations in her memory may be made to www.jhamtseinternational.org.
