JACK SULLIVAN Obituary
SULLIVAN, Jack (Jake, Jack, By then I was a legend) 83 of Boca Raton, FL August 11, 2013. Born and raised in South Boston. Korean War Veteran who commanded The Pride of South Boston M4 tank in the 17th Buffalos Regiment. Jack was the first American soldier to set foot on the Yalu River and the last to leave. Officially not having graduated from 8th grade, Jack was a lifelong auto-didact and longtime Mensa member. He was a serial entrepreneur and real estate developer. He was widowed from his first wife, Louise, in 1964 and left with four children ages 1 month to 7 years. He practiced at being a husband four more times. He was father to Mark Sullivan, who predeceased him in 1989, John Sullivan and his wife, Jane of Dover, Ma, Louise Kelley and her husband Edward of Dighton, Ma, and Gavin Sullivan and his wife Petra of Divide, CO. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and by his aunt Irene Rooney, with whom he was very close, and her daughters Paula and Cindy. Visiting hours will be at OBrien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, Wednesday morning , August 21, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
