Dr. McCallum operated on me for appendicitis on March 6, 1979 as I was 34 weeks pregnant. My daughter was born the next day and a rollercoaster of events followed. Dr. McCallum saved my life and I want to express my sincere condolences to the family. He took on a challenge and I will always be grateful.

Hard to believe that you're gone. The OR lounge will always have a seat for you, if you decide to drop in and tell one of your stories.
I'm so sorry that I didn't get to say "good bye". I didn't know that you were upstairs until it was too late.
You will be missed! We'll keep you in our memories. Rest in peace.

I was a freshman at Yale in 1956; Leo was the advisor for the 3rd floor suites in Wright Hall. I have nothing but fond memories of the advice he offered us neophytes. I was interested in Medicine so Leo took me to the medical school to view his prosections for the following day's first year medical students. Joe Twichell

We have lost a brilliant surgeon and a very intelligent human being who could answer any question you asked of him. He was our walking encyclopedia. I will always remember him making rounds on Sunday mornings with his four little boys alongside of him. RIP, Leo. For sure you are in a good place. Anne Santoro

For many years, Leo attended Medical Grand Rounds on Tues. mornings. He always took the aisle seat (behind the concrete column); I always sat next to him --- to discuss, politics, history, medicine, philosophy and everything in between. I/we will miss him and be reminded of him every Tuesday morning.
Goodbye old comrade....
