Obituary Condolences

BATEMAN, Leonard J. June 15, 2012. We will miss the twinkle in his eyes and great laughter. Len died peacefully at Mass. General Hospital under the devoted care of the Lunder 10 staff. Len was the son of Leonard and Ann Bateman. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Kerls) Bateman and cherished daughter, Julia Bateman. He also leaves a sister Anne, brother George and many family members and friends.Len was a graduate of Matignon High School, 1960, and Providence College, 1964. As an Army Captain he received the Bronze Star. Len also served as a former selectman in Millis. He loved to read obituaries which he called the Irish Sports Page. He had many talents as a writer, historian and humorist.He will be greatly missed but we rejoice in his Real Life with God. Visiting hours will be held on Monday June 18 from 4-7pm at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, SOUTH YARMOUTH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tues., June 19 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, Summer St., Yarmouth Port. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 1:15pm at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
