MARY E. NORTON (SULLIVAN) STARKE Obituary
STARKE, Mary E. Betty (Sullivan) Norton 92, of Lexington, died peacefully on January 15. Mrs. Starke was born in Allston, MA on November 5, 1921. The daughter of the late John and Henrietta (Davey) Sullivan, Mrs. Starke attended Mount St. Joseph High School in Brighton. She worked at Harvard University for thirty years until her retirement in 1991. She was the widow of Charles Warren Norton and Peter Starke. Betty raised her family and lived for many years in Cambridge before moving in with her daughter Susan Whitney in Belmont. Betty was the President of the Womens Auxiliary at VFW Post #7353 in Cambridge and a member at Post #1272 in Belmont and a long time member of St. Pauls Parish in Cambridge. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and dancing. She also volunteered in community efforts to aid homeless veterans in the Belmont-Cambridge area. Mrs. Starke is survived by her beloved daughter Susan Whitney, sons Robert (Michelle) Starke and Brian (Kelly) Starke, grandchildren Patrick Whitney, Jeremy (Corinne) and Erica Starke, Michael and Richard Benson, Kathaleen (Mark) Hatfield, Maureen OCallahan, Janet (Joanne) OCallahan, Paula (Tom) Stanton, Cheryl (Joseph) Alfano, great grandchildren Sheila Beach, Alex Benson, Dennis Pothier, Mark, Ryan and Meaghan Hatfield, Jack and Molly Stanton, Zackery and Jake Alfano, Ava and Claire Starke and great great grandsons Mitchell and Conor Beach. Mrs. Starke is predeceased by her children Kathaleen (Norton) OCallahan and Paul Starke. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave., NORTH CAMBRIDGE on Tuesday at 9:00 am. Funeral Mass in Saint Peter's Church, 100 Concord Ave, Cambridge at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Saint Pauls Cemetery, Arlington. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm.
