RICHARD L. SIMMONS Obituary
SIMMONS, Richard L. 73, of Pembroke died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston. The son of the late Earl and Esther (Lyons) Simmons, he was born in Weymouth on March 23, 1939. He was a 1957 graduate of the Carpentry program at Silver Lake Regional High School. Richard proudly served in the Navy and was later worked as a Police Officer with the Pembroke Police Department. He retired as a Sergeant in 2002 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police Association, the Old Colony Sportsman Club in Pembroke, enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a master carpenter. He was the loving husband of Mary Ann (O'Donnell) Simmons, devoted father of Bridget Simmons Murphy and her husband Stephen of Hyde Park, Jonathan Simmons, (Pembroke Police Dept) and his wife Jennifer of Pembroke, and Mary Beth Simmons of Pembroke, loving grandfather of Aidan and Connor Simmons. He was the brother of the late Earl and Lloyd Simmons. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM in St. Thecla Church, 145 Washington St., Rte 53 in No. Pembroke. Interment with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Due to the floral restrictions at the National Cemetery, the family request in lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name be made to Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
