THOMAS JOSEPH ALLEN Jr. Obituary
ALLEN, Thomas Joseph, Jr. Age 68, of Plymouth, died at Jordan Hospital on October 5, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of 46 years to Judith E. (Jenkins) Allen. He was the loving son of the late Angela M. (DiMaggio) Allen and the late Thomas J. Allen, Sr. of South Boston and Dorchester. Tom was educated at Gate of Heaven School in South Boston, and was a graduate of Don Bosco High School and Northeastern University, Boston. He joined the US Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a resident of Plymouth for 40 years. Tom worked as an Electrical Engineer and spent the past 10 years of his career working for Tech-Etch of Plymouth until his retirement in January. Besides leaving his wife Judith of Plymouth, he leaves behind his daughter, Kimberly M. Allen and her partner David Wolcott of Plymouth, his son, Thomas J. Allen, III, and his wife Kimberly (Cohen) Allen of Plymouth, his son, Michael G. Allen and his wife Crystal (Segui) Allen of Orlando, FL, and his daughter, Jacqueline H. (Allen) Bray and her husband Daniel Bray of Gig Harbor, WA. He was the cherished grandfather of Jocelyn Rose Bray, Matthew Daniel Bray and Connor Michael Allen. He was the beloved brother of Robert Allen and his wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA and their daughters, Melissa (Allen) Ryan and Rebecca Allen. He was brother-in-law of James E. Jenkins and his wife Ann (Grimes) Jenkins of Milford, MA. and their daughter, Kristen (Jenkins ) Watson and their son, Gregory Jenkins. Tom was an avid sports fan enjoying the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and most especially the New England Patriots. For over 10 years he coached his daughters and was President of the Plymouth Girls' Softball League. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 9, Plymouth, where he was instrumental in helping his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Tom enjoyed watching TV, traveling and playing with his grandchildren. He cared deeply for his family and friends and was a wonderful father and husband. His dedication to his wife and children will never be forgotten. Tom's family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care given to Tom in his time of crisis by the Doctors and Nurses of the Jordan Hospital Emergency Room and the Critical Care Unit. Visitation will take place at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., PLYMOUTH on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cartmell Funeral Home.
