SABELLI Anthony Joseph, of Newton Centre, born April 30, 1924, died September 11, 2013, at the age of 89, at the LittleSisters of the Poor St. Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville, where he resided for 2 1/2 years. He was the loving husband of the late Gloria B. Dumont Sabelli, (1923-2011). He is survived by five children: Victoria G. Sabelli, Deborah D. Sabelli, John A. D. Sabelli, Sr. Mary Veronica (Pamela D.) Sabelli and Robert L. D. Sabelli; four grandchildren: Renata Sabelli-Stephanian, Jeffrey Sabelli, Michelle Sabelli, and Mary Victoria Sabelli; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Sabelli and Luca Anthony Sabelli. Funeral Mass in the Saint Jeanne Jugan Chapel, Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, SOMERVILLE, on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. followed by a luncheon. Relatives and friends gratefully invited. Visiting hours in the same location on Friday 6:00P.M. -8:00P.M. and Saturday 9:00A.M. 11:00 A.M. Anthony (“Tony”) enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the V12 program during WWII. His training included studies at MIT, where he met Gloria, whom he married on April 27, 1945 upon receiving his officer’s commission. He later graduated from Harvard University (Economics), Class of 1949. He continued in the Naval Reserves and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anthony’s memory may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville MA 02143. Interment will be private.
