BERRY Robert R. Sr., “Buster,” age 72 of Swampscott, died on Thursday August 29, 2013 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Eva (Hicks) Berry, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Clarence and Alice (Tinkham) Berry. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Trade School. He lived in Swampscott for over forty years. Buster was a Swampscott Police Officer for over thirty years; he retired with the rank of Detective Sergeant. Buster was a motorcycle enthusiast who traveled all over the country, including many memorable trips to Sturgis and Florida, through these trips he made and continued to have friends all over the world. He was “bigger than life” and enjoyed a good party and always became the “life” of that party. He believed in having an open door policy at his home and was known as the “father” of the neighborhood, no child was ever turned away from his door. His greatest joy came from the time that he spent with his wife “The Beav” and his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Buster is survived by three children; Robert Berry Jr. and his wife Samantha, of Fort Kent, Maine, Patricia Evitts and her husband Corey, of Peabody, and Heidi Santo and her husband Jason, of Saugus, as well as six grandchildren; Brianna, Anthony, Ava, Cody, Rian, and Gunner Dean. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Solimine Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home 67 Ocean Street (Route 1A), LYNN. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M.
