SHELDON Stuart C. Sheldon, DPM, age 78, of Randolph, Maine, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Maine Veterans Home, Augusta following a long illness. He was born in Gardiner, ME on March 30, 1935 a son of the late Leo and Helen (Fuller) Sheldon. Stuart was a graduate of Roslindale High School in Massachusetts, class of 1953 and attended Podiatry College in Boston, MA and Cincinnati, OH, graduating in 1958. He joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was activated in 1961 during the Berlin Wall crisis. Upon his return, he opened his Podiatry Practice in Roslindale, MA, practicing for 30 plus years. On October 2, 1993, he married Constance Blake Sheldon in Bow, NH. Dr. Sheldon was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Hallowell. Stuart was an avid Red Sox fan. He was very active in athletics and community endeavors, including the Roslindale Kiwanis Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and served on the Board of Directors for the Cooperative Bank of Roslindale and the Roslindale YMCA. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Constance A. (Blake) Sheldon of Randolph; a son, Steven Sheldon of Hyde Park, MA; a daughter, Susan Gotthardt and her husband Erich of South Walpole, MA; two step-daughters: Pamela Gundy of Colorado Springs, CO and Susan LeBorgne and her husband Ronald of Scarborough; a brother, David Sheldon and his wife Christina of Hyde Park, MA; two sisters: Sharon Shaw of Attleboro, MA and Ann McLaughlin of Natick, MA; seven grandchildren: Emily, Kristin, Lindsey, Matthew, Kristin, Caitlin and Taylor; two great-grandchildren: Taelyn and Tylie as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the caring staff at the Maine Veterans Home for the care and compassion they showed to Stuart and his family during his extended illness. At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in Hallowell Cemetery in the spring.
