Born January 12, 1920 to Ira and Mamie Sellars in Cairo, GA, Henry went on to be with his Lord on December 31, 2013 at the age of 93. Henry's lovely wife Barbara(Kneeshaw) preceded him in death on December 31, 2000. Henry came to Bradenton in 1947. Henry proudly served in World War II in the Army Infantry 38th Division, 150th Field Artillery, 155MM Howitzers. He also served in the South Pacific including the Philippines, New Guinea, Panama and Hawaii receiving many combat stars. Henry was a certified General Motors Mechanic and had a forty year career working for dealerships such as Pruitt Buick and Cox Chevrolet. Henry captivated his friends and family with his many stories of his life, travels, experiences and love of his family. He loved to play the piano and entertained many people with his Christian music. Before residing at Bradenton Healthcare, Henry attended Colonial Baptist Church. Henry is survived by his sons Henry D. (Edna) Sellars and Richard A. (Linda) Sellars, brothers Durwood Sellars, J.W(Buddy) Sellars, Ronald Sellars,and sisters, Bernice Ponder, Doris Sexton, Marlene Ricks, Francis MacMillian, Mildred Williams, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Bishop's Animal Shelter(S.P. C.A.) in Bradenton because of Henry's great love of animals. The family will recieve friends Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, from 9:30 - 10:00 am at Manasota Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Richard Lansberger. Interment will follow in Manasota Memorial Park. Manasota Funeral Home is assiting the family.
