Rodney M. (Rod) Thomas, 100 years old, passed away May 16, 2013 at the Tidewell Hospice Center in Bradenton, Florida. Rod was born January 13, 1913 in White Cottage, Ohio. He was a graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville, Ohio and attended Ohio University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Rod was a member of Lafayette No. 79 Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Zanesville, a member of Elks Lodge No. 1511 in Bradenton and a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida. Rod retired after twenty five years as a supervisor for Anchor Glass Co. in Dayville, Connecticut. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Dorothy (Peart), one son, Philip R. (Colleen) of Wilson, NC, one daughter, Pamela (Jim) Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The grandchildren include Jay Thomas and wife Robin of Whidbey Island, WA, Wendy Cauthen of Virginia Beach, VA, Jill Bone and husband Michael of Chapel Hill, NC, Rebecca Taylor of Louisville, KY and James Thomas and wife Iona of Durham, NC. National Cremation Society is in charge of the final arrangements. A memorial service will be conducted at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM on May 25, 2013.
