George Borofsky, 86 years of age, formerly of Brattleboro, Vt., residing in Hookset N.H., died Oct. 7, 2013 after a short illness. He leaves two daughters, Cathy Smith of California, and Lonnie Benzel of Florida; a son, Bruce Borofsky of New York; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley "Pal" Borofsky of Brattleboro; and a sister-in-law, Donna Borofsky. He graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1943. He participated Friday evenings at the Paramount Theater in Brattleboro in weekly talent shows playing the saxophone. He joined the Army in 1943 and was discharged just after the surrender of Japan. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1948; received a B.S. degree in accounting; worked for Sam's Army & Navy Stores in Brattleboro, Vt., Bellows Falls, Vt., Greenfield, Mass., and Manchester, N.H. He was also employed at Maple State Lumber Co. in Dummerston, Vt. for a time. In 1956 he became an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Ins. Co., then obtained his designation as a C.P.C.U. He then opened his own commercial insurance agency in Manchester, N.H. in 1959. His wife, Sharon, died in May 2012. His hobby and lifelong enjoyment was playing bridge. He hosted weekly bridge games and became a Life Master. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Committal service is to be held in the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen , N. H. on Monday the 14th of October at 10 a.m.
