Obituary

DANIEL G. MALDONADO Obituary
Mr. Daniel G. Maldonado, 63, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, after a brave and valiant battle against cancer at his residence in Brownsville, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in San Benito, Texas, Danny had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. After graduating from high school, Danny enlisted in the US Army and served our country proudly during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he returned home where he attended college and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

Danny then began a 20 year career as a dedicated teacher with the BISD, teaching Texas History at Cummings Middle School where he inspired and motivated the students that he taught.

Danny taught those around him how to be generous, loving, and selfless. He loved being around his family and spending time with them. He was an avid pool player who hustled a game or two during his lifetime. He also enjoyed watching boxing and listening to rock-n-roll. Danny's wit brought joy and laughter to those around him.

Danny was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Alejo Maldonado; a sister, Linda Delgado; and two brothers, Pedro and Reymundo Maldonado.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his wife of 36 years, Minerva Maldonado; his two daughters, Yleana (fiancée Rolando Blanco) and Michelle (Juan Diego) Luna; the nephew that was like his own son, Pedro Maldonado; his mother, Herlinda G. Maldonado; a sister, Rosie Maldonado; and two brothers, Cristobal (Sylvia) Maldonado and Alejo (Catalina) Maldonado Jr.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday evening.

The Funeral Mass will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Our Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 650 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., Brownsville, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal.
