Janie Lee Helmke went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012. She was born on October 11, 1946 in Brownsville, Texas.|
She is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Edna Poitinger, and her sister Joy Lynn Rickert (Joe).
She attended Brownsville High School, Texas Southmost College, and after marriage to Harry F. Helmke II she attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas.
Janie worked for Union Carbide in Brownsville, Celanese in Bishop, TX. She worked for Texas Unemployment Commission in Eagle Pass, TX. While there she began her career as an artist and she had many art shows during their stay in Eagle Pass.
In 1978, they moved to Kingwood, TX. Janie worked in the Christian School of Kingwood teaching four year olds and later worked in the school cafeteria. She loved children and teaching them about the Lord.
Janie is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 43 years. She leaves behind her endearing children, Heather Lee Brown (Tony), Julie Anne Helmke, and Harry F. Helmke III. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Gavin Lee, Alivia Lillee, Emmalee Anne, and Maci Lee.
She is also survived by her sister Janet L. Kaufmann (Georg), Jack L. Poitinger, Jr. (Beth), and James L. Poitinger (Grace) and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
