Jose Guadalupe Garcia, 65, of Brownsville, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.|
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Garcia; three children Teri (Santos) Alarcon, Patty (Louie) Ramirez, and Robert Garcia; and nine beautiful grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ashley, Alyssa and Jacob Alarcon, Lorraine, James, Louie Jr., and Michael Ramirez, and Alondra and Robert Jr. Garcia.
Mr. Garcia was a proud veteran of the United States Marines Corps. He served his country honorably in Vietnam, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, a U.S. military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving the United States Armed Forces.
On the brink of retirement, Mr. Garcia was a proud employee at Trico Corporation where he was regarded as a dedicated and committed employee for 25 years. Prior to that, he was employed at Marathon LeTourneau for 18 years.
His family was his life, and his favorite past time was to BBQ his famous split chicken while listening to good music. He was also known for his witty sense of humor, positive outlook on life, and his ability to make people laugh and enjoy time together. He was greatly loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Robert Garcia, Louie Ramirez, James Ramirez, Jacob Alarcon, Joe A. Garcia, and Greg Garcia.
His life and all he gave will be celebrated from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday July 18, 2014 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Catholic Church followed by the Interment at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Military honors will be provided by Veterans Foreign Wars Post 2035 Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home in Brownsville, 657 Springmart Blvd, (956) 350-8485.
