Michael E. Lazorko

Obituary Condolences

LAZORKO

Mr. Michael E. Lazorko, 89, our beloved father and friend, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

Michael, a native of Jersey City, N.J., had been a resident of Brownsville for a number of years.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Michael fought in Burma, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. When he returned to the U.S. he became a paratrooper. After being discharged, he enrolled at New York University where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree.

Michael led a very interesting life. He was the owner of the 7-Up Bottling Co. of Pittsfield, Mass., and a partner in the Hudson Armed Co., where he operated its branch in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. This enabled Michael to visit almost all the islands in the Caribbean. In his travels, Michael was fortunate to visit six of the seven continents and he was proud to say that he went completely around the world. There are Seven Wonders of the World and Michael was lucky to visit all seven of them.

Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor; his second wife, Alicia; and three brothers, Walter, John and William Lazorko.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle; a son, Michael; his stepchildren, James and Nicholas Cazanas; and a sister, Annie Mahoney.

A private graveside service will be held today, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, in Mission, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Michael's name may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3201 Veterans Drive, Brownsville, TX 78521, Attn: George M. Garcia.

Michael wishes to thank God for his family, his many friends and the wonderful life that he blessed him with.

Michael was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
